The core principle

PathTest observes. It never acts on clinical systems.

PathTest establishes a purely passive connection to your pathology message stream. It ingests a copy of existing traffic for governance monitoring without ever sending instructions to or modifying clinical systems. This read-only architecture ensures zero clinical risk and requires no clinical governance approval for deployment. It is a dedicated, non-intrusive governance layer built specifically for the safety of laboratory operations.

Step by step

From connection to accreditation evidence in five stages.

01

Connect

Passive connection to your message infrastructure

PathTest receives a mirrored copy of your message traffic. This includes the same data flowing between LIMS, EHR, and clinical applications. Your existing infrastructure remains untouched. Middleware, analysers, and integration engines continue to operate with zero interruption or performance impact.

02

Protect

03

Baseline

Defining what 'normal' looks like for your workflows

Our team collaborates with your Quality Manager to establish formal governance baselines for critical workflows. We document expected timing, routing sequences, and volume patterns to create a definitive reference point. Each baseline requires manual approval by your informatics team before activation. While we provide AI-driven suggestions based on observed traffic, your team maintains total control over all thresholds.

Baselines are specific to your environment. No two pathology networks are identical — PathTest does not apply generic thresholds.

04

Continuous comparison against your approved baselines

Detect

The system monitors every message against your approved baselines in real time. Any deviation in routing, processing speed, or data density is classified by severity. Governance teams receive immediate notifications containing the specific workflow and nature of the error. This provides the technical context necessary for rapid intervention and ensures your clinical output remains consistent and safe.

Patient identifiers removed at the boundary

All patient-identifiable data is cryptographically purged before processing or storage. PathTest retains only the structural and routing metadata required for governance audits - such as latency, message type, and field population status. No patient records or clinical content are ever stored within the platform, ensuring absolute data privacy and compliance.

05

Evidence

An automatic, tamper-evident record of everything

Every governance event — baseline captures and approvals, detected deviations, monitoring gaps, validation runs, alert acknowledgements — is automatically written to an immutable evidence store the moment it occurs. Records are cryptographically signed using a platform key, WORM-locked in object storage for a minimum of 10 years, and available for inspection at any time. When your next accreditation cycle arrives, the evidence is already there.
